IndKnow – Integration of Indigenous knowledge systems into mapping, planning and environmental decision making
Project description
IndKnow is coupled to multiple projects lead by the Centre of Sami Studies in Norway that explore the impact of industrial growth on indigenous people and the role of indigenous knowledge systems in environmental decision making. Participatory mapping tools for community-based impact assessments is developed in one of the WPs using mining, wind mills and aquaculture development as examples. The project includes partners from Southern Cross University in Australia, Stockholm University and Stockholm Environmental Institute. The project is also linked to previous projects such as TriArc and IndGov which include participatory mapping cases from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia and Canada.
